Guideline for Applicants to the Associate Dean Position
Waseda University Center for International Education is recruiting for the Associate Dean position based on the following guidelines.

Faculty Position
Visiting Faculty (Professor or Associate Professor, as set forth by university regulations)
Period of Employment
Up to three years beginning in September 2008 or April 2009
(Annual contract, renewable up to three years.)

Application Requirements
The applicant must fulfill all of the following requirements at the time of hire as a general rule.

Ph.D Degree or its equivalent
-
Work experience in the field of international education, such as student exchange programs and/or study abroad programs.
-
High level of communication skills and native level English capabilities.
-
High level of communication skills and capability to work in Japanese.
Job Responsibilities
-
Shall be involved in the long term development and diversification of study abroad programs' policies and strategies (including short-term programs).
-
Shall act as the day to day study abroad specialist and coordinator for various regions such as North America, Europe and Asia.

Shall evaluate and propose improvements of the academic contents of existing study abroad programs.

Shall design and effectively implement the entire study abroad programs.

Shall develop the risk management administrative structure for the outbound and inbound study abroad students.

Shall be responsible for investigating the flexibility of short-term and summer term outbound and inbound programs
-
Shall provide counseling for outbound and inbound study abroad students who participate in orientations when needed.

Shall teach approximately 3 subjects/courses per year.

Other specific duties as assigned by the Dean of CIE.
Compensation
1. Monthly Base Salary
Same monthly base pay as other full-time faculty of Waseda University of the same age and faculty status. Other details are as set forth by university regulations.
2. Semester Bonus
Summer Bonus and Winter Bonus will each be equivalent to about one month's base salary. Other details are as set forth by university regulations.
3. Others
No payment of allowances other than 1 and 2 above.
Research Allowances
A set amount will be paid out as set forth by university regulations.
Travel Expenses
Travel expenses incurred when traveling to take this position will be paid out under the Waseda University Visiting Faculty Compensation Regulation and the Travel Allowance Regulation when filed for by the individual.
Social Insurance
Enrollment in Employee Pension · Health Insurance · Worker's Compensation Insurance · Employment Insurance.
Associate Dean Allowance
Stipulated amount paid out as set forth by university regulations.

Selection Method
-
1st Stage Screening: Document Screening
-
* 2nd Stage Screening: Interview Screening.
Applicants are expected to attend 2008 NAFSA annual conference in Washington, DC in late May 2008. CIE selection committee will interview those who selected from the initial document screening at NAFSA conference.
Others

The acceptance process is as set forth in the sections for Visiting Faculty (Professor or Associate Professor) on the Regulations for Receiving Visiting Professors at Waseda University.

Those who are successful in the 2nd Stage Screening must undergo a health check at a medical institution designated by the university at a university-designated time and date.
